I don't see how forwarding mail to a phone can be any different than forwarding to a computer. When I forward an email all I know is the destination address, not where the destinatary will read it. IMO, it is the destination software which is removing parts of the post. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. One is received on K-9 mail, and it worked. Only issue is that the URL was wrapped on two lines, but nevertheless, tapping on it worked. Another is received on the gmail app. The URL is not wrapped, and it also works. (if the URL is of inportance, it is just https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDLpEQmdNZE without '<>' symbols marking it. Plain text) And it was sent from a GMX account. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. However, if you just want to send the message to a different address rather than including it along with some new content, then you can use the B (bounce) command instead of F (forward) to resend the message with the text/html part intact. -- Steve From mbeis.bsd at xs4all.nl Sun Apr 25 11:26:13 2021 From: mbeis.bsd at xs4all.nl (Marco Beishuizen) Date: Tue Dec 13 07:29:18 2022 Subject: [Alpine-info] links in forwarded emails In-Reply-To: References: <73e0e23c-2f30-2b82-20e3-a375e1d9b78@xs4all.nl> Message-ID: <86c11c1d-2549-beea-adc-1050914dc72a@xs4all.nl> On Sun, 25 Apr 2021, the wise Stephen Casner wrote: > AFAIK, Alpine does not implement forwarding a message in text/html > format. Most email nowadays is formatted in HTML, but when forwarding Alpine picks the text version of that email and links in that email break. The solution that when explicitly forwarding the HTML formatted version, the links are preserved. This works for me anyway. The mail body becomes an attachment in this case. I am having this problem lately with emails with zoom/msteams links in it. -- It is a sobering thought that when Mozart was my age, he had been dead for 2 years. -- Tom Lehrer From pierre.frenkiel at gmail.com Sun Apr 25 12:18:31 2021 From: pierre.frenkiel at gmail.com (Pierre Frenkiel) Date: Tue Dec 13 07:29:18 2022 Subject: [Alpine-info] links in forwarded emails In-Reply-To: References: <73e0e23c-2f30-2b82-20e3-a375e1d9b78@xs4all.nl> Message-ID: On Sun, 25 Apr 2021, Stephen Casner wrote: > However, if you just want to send the message to a different > address rather than including it along with some new content, then you > can use the B (bounce) command instead of F (forward) to resend the > message with the text/html part intact. you are right. I'd see this as widely genuinely useful and easy to implement. I imaging most of use have a proper GUI enabled mail client for deadling with emails that simply don't work in pine. I use mine 30 times a day and it it (a) a PITA to H / [forward as attachment] Y / type address and then get an email with my unwanted signature above the attached email. I'd simply like to press a button and get the email on my gmail account where it is presentable. Save the email from one folder in one account to another folder in another account. You just have to define both accounts in Alpine. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
